What exactly do you do in your current job?
Research and Teaching.
What inspired you to start working in sustainable energy?
I wanted to help end energy poverty in my community by using research, engineering innovation, and advocacy to promote fair and sustainable energy for everyone.
Can you tell us about how you got started working in energy?
My journey into sustainable energy started when I was a teenager. I always dreamed of becoming an engineer. In high school, I studied industrial electronics. For my Bachelor’s degree, I studied electromechanical engineering. I then completed a Master’s degree in energy engineering with a focus on renewable energy. After that, I continued my career in the academic sector, where I now work as a researcher and teaching assistant.
What do you love about working in the sustainable energy sector?
I love knowing that my work helps improve the quality of life in my community. Using engineering to create fair, clean, and reliable energy solutions gives me a sense of purpose and hope.
What advice or encouragement would you give to girls and young women considering a career in sustainable energy?
My advice is to be confident and courageous. The sustainable energy sector is still male-dominated, but women have the skills, intelligence, and strength to lead real change. A fair and inclusive energy transition is impossible without us. Keep learning, build new skills, and grow your leadership abilities. Your voice and your talent are needed at every level of the sector.
