Job Title: Project Manager Consultant

Company: National public agency operating in the field of rural electrification
Country: Madagascar

What exactly do you do in your current job?

I work on the coordination and administrative follow-up of rural electrification projects. My role includes project monitoring, institutional coordination, preparation of technical and administrative documents, and support on decision-making processes.

What inspired you to start working in sustainable energy?

My background in electrical and renewable energy engineering showed me that sustainable energy is not only a technical solution but also a powerful lever for social and economic development, especially in underserved areas.

Can you tell us about how you got started working in energy?

I began my career in sustainable energy through formal training in electrical engineering with a specialization in renewable energy systems. Early in my career, I worked on solar energy projects, which allowed me to gain hands-on experience in system design, installation, and energy management. I later strengthened my expertise through specialized certifications and applied research in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and environmental economics. Over time, I expanded my role to include project coordination, institutional work, and advisory support for renewable energy and rural electrification initiatives, which helped me develop both technical and strategic skills in the sustainable energy sector.

What do you love about working in the sustainable energy sector?

I love working in sustainable energy because it combines technical problem-solving with meaningful social and environmental impact.

What advice or encouragement would you give to girls and young women considering a career in sustainable energy?

I would encourage girls and young women to believe that they belong in the sustainable energy sector. This field needs diverse perspectives, and women bring valuable technical, social, and leadership skills. Do not be intimidated by stereotypes; start by building a strong technical foundation, seek mentors, and gain hands-on experience whenever possible. Sustainable energy is not only about technology; it is about impact, innovation, and shaping the future. Your contribution can make a real difference for communities and the planet.
